“Report for the creation of the Artist Statute" Cultures Comissión, Congress of Deputies, Spain
"58. Professional transition is an unavoidable reality for artistic professions that are especially technically and physically demanding: dance and circus artists, among others, characterized by their strong vocational commitment, atypical life paths and short professional careers. The programs to support the professional transition of these artists have proven their effectiveness, making them stop being people at risk of social exclusion and continue to be active and contributing citizens, on and off the stage.”
Congress of Deputies, Spain 2018
The health crisis has brought to light situations that were already unsustainable in the Performing Arts, one of them being the lack of programs for the Professional Transition of dance artists.
In light of this situation, the Association of Dance Professionals of the Community of Madrid (APDCM), the Association of Dance Professionals of Asturias (APDA) and the Association of Dance Professionals of Andalusia (PAD) have joined forces to promote the creation of a Pilot Program for Professional Transition for dancers through TRANSIT (Table of Studies and Initiatives for Professional Transition in Dance).
Behind the initiatives and the associations there are people: Starting from the driving group that has been working on Professional Transition issues for more than 10 years to position this issue on the political agenda, we invite professionals, conservatories, schools, associations to join the challenge of promoting TRANSIT.
